To support growth and expansion we are currently recruiting Health and Safety Manager to join our team in Carrigtwohill, Co Cork
Working pattern: Monday- Friday 09:00-17:00
Main duties and responsibilities
- Manage ISO Certification and Audits
- Organize Health and Safety Training and manage the on sites training matrix
- Develop and work with the teams on monthly safety alert/toolbox talk topics as per current risks and trends.
- Order and arrange PPE for high risk tasks
- Participate in the audit processes and procedures, ensuring the business complies with all relevant statutory and best practice
- Oversee and implement task specific safety documentation, ensuring risks and hazards are communicated to all relevant parties
- Carry out COSHH Assessments and chemical handling training within the Plant
- Investigate and compile Accident/Incident/Near Miss Reports
- Develop procedures and SOPs for the on site teams working with the Client EHS Team.
- Carrying out Site Audit Inspections
- Analyze the monthly EHS statistics for global board reports and looking for any current trends
- Liaise with EHS regulators HSA, EPA, local councils etc.
- Lead by example with PPE compliance across the Plants
- Collaborate with site leadership to ensure alignment on priority EHS issues and plans to address same
- Promote and support a culture of accountability and collaboration in relation to safety and environmental performance and expectations
- Manage spend in line with budget and drives efficiencies and cost savings across EHS service and equipment providers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum degree or higher diploma in health and safety
- Minimum 2.5 years’ experience in a customer service driven environment
- Experience working with management systems i.e. ISO14001, ISO45001, ISO9001
- Proven ability to work on own initiative, with problem solving skills and be innovative
- Membership of IOSH (or working towards) or equivalent
- Proficiency in Microsoft IT applications
- Full Clean Driving Licence and Access to own vehicle
- Flexibility to travel as required
- Experience in auditing HSEQ management systems

Dominique has been part of Apleona for 19 years and has built an impressive career during that time. He has progressed from project manager to deputy head of department and now heads the facilities management division at the Cologne site. He has now been working as an in-house technician at Apleona for seven years and, with great dedication, ensures that the systems run smoothly. Whether it's maintenance, repairs or solving unexpected problems, Patrick is always on hand to keep everything running. What does he particularly like about Apleona? The strong team spirit. "We're a well-oiled team. When it matters, everyone can rely on one another." For him, spontaneity is part of the job, just like the regular exchanges with colleagues from other departments, which constantly give him fresh inspiration. Patrick stays active in his spare time too, though not with tools, but with a green thumb. His garden is his personal oasis, where he enjoys every spare minute in the fresh air. His property in Berlin and his work at Apleona? Highly recommended!
Passion meets success!
Since June 2023, he has been supporting one of our largest client sites in Berlin as a project coordinator. Tim originally joined us through a temporary employment agency as a plant mechanic. But it soon became clear: he was a permanent fixture in the team! "The friendly atmosphere and professional camaraderie won me over straight away," he says. Today, he is taking on more and more responsibility and is also working towards his master craftsman's qualification. Tim embodies what Apleona is all about: team spirit, commitment and the desire to develop further.
